Mission Statement: The Louisville Celiac Support Group is organized to assist people who have Celiac Disease or are gluten intolerant.  Our mission is "Celiacs Helping Celiacs".  The group works very hard to inform and educate the community about Celiac Disease, Dermatitis Herpetiformis, gluten intolerance and the gluten free diet.  Family members are welcome to attend.
This web site is financially supported by the local chapter of the Celiac Sprue Association (CSA/USA) and is developed by one of its members.  The information presented here is intended to help our members better understand the gluten free diet and celiac disease issues.

July 9 - GF diet presentation by Beverly Kastan plus a demo about our web site by Jim McKinney

August brings the picnic so there is no meeting on August 13.  The picnic date will be announced at a later time.

Meetings start at 7 pm in the education area of Baptist Hospital East on the 2nd floor and last for about an hour with socializing and snacks following.  Bring a GF snack to share - which is always optional- and new members are encouraged.
Find out more about Celiac Disease from Children's Hospital Boston.  Their web site has an on-line tutorial about kids and celiac disease.  This web site discusses the challenges of raising a child with celiac disease.
University of Kentucky has a clinical study on celiac disease.  Participants are needed.  The first celiac study is over and Dr. Arsenescu is preparing an abstract to be presented in May 2009 at the international Digestive Disease Meeting.  Meanwhile he is enrolling patients with newly diagnosed celiac disease or patient diagnosed in the past but not responding well to the diet.  Click here to see a poster with more information.
