A few gluten free beers are available: Bards Beer, Lakefront New Grist Beer and Red Bridge Beer from Anheuser-Busch. A cider from Woodchuck is also gluten free.
Lakefront New Grist Beer was purchased at Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati in December 2005. According to the package, the beer is brewed from Sorghum and is "a crisp and refreshing session ale brewed without wheat or barley." The web site says nothing about Gluten Free and there are no ingredients listed. If anyone sees this beer in the Louisville metro area, please let the web developer know where it can be found. (The web developer has enjoyed a few of these beers with no ill effects.
Bards Tale Beer is served at the Outback Restaurants (according to Bards web site) and can be purchased at the Liquor Barn at Fern Valley and Preston Highway, Wild Oats, Whole Foods, at the Party Source in Town Center, plus other sites in the metro area. As of October 2006, it cost $11.99 for six bottles at Wild Oats. Bards Tale Beer is available in a number of places around New Albany including Rich O's Public House. Red Bridge beer is available from Anheuser-Busch. It is made from Sorgum and contains no wheat or barley. One of our members found this beer at Walmart on Bardstown Rd near the Gene Synder, the Walmart in Hillview, and at Whole Foods.
